The Conference of the Parties (COP) is the United Nations’ annual climate change conference, where countries negotiate and agree on measures to combat global warming.
From 9 to 20 November 2026, COP31 will be held in Antalaya (Türkiye), bringing together representatives from governments, international organisations, business and civil society to address the challenges of fighting climate change.
The CNMV will attend COP31 to promote using capital markets as a source of financing for Spain’s transition to a more sustainable and decarbonised economy. It will also play an active role in developing related international regulation.

As part of COP31, the CNMV and the Capital Markets Board of Türkiye are hosting an event that will bring together regulators, experts and industry professionals to examine the role taxonomies play in mobilising private capital. Participants will also share their international experience and discuss solutions to the practical challenges that arise when different regulatory frameworks overlap. The event is being held in collaboration with the Taskforce on Net Zero Policy, the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) and the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI).
Carlos San Basilio, the CNMV Chair, will deliver the closing remarks, and Helena Viñes, a CNMV Board Member, will host the Fireside Chat.
